Xuchang Hua Tuo Cultural Research Association
Established on July 25, 2012, the association is located in Xuchang, a Three Kingdoms cultural city renowned as the ancient capital of the Han and Wei dynasties. Xuchang shares a profound historical connection with Hua Tuo, the legendary physician of the Three Kingdoms period. Hua Tuo (courtesy name Yuanhua), revered as a founding figure of clinical Chinese medicine, resided in Xuchang for much of his life and passed away in Suqiao. Renowned for his exceptional medical skills, exemplary medical ethics, and compassionate practice, he pioneered the anesthetic formula "Mafeisan" and created the "Five-Animal Exercises," achievements still celebrated worldwide. Eschewing fame and political pursuits, Hua Tuo dedicated his life to healing and saving lives, leaving an indelible legacy for the development of traditional Chinese medicine. On August 7, 2012, Comrade Lu Zhangong, then Secretary of the Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, inscribed the words: "The spirit of Hua Tuo shall endure through the ages."

Since its inception, the association has actively engaged in theoretical research on Hua Tuo culture and Three Kingdoms culture. It strives to inherit Hua Tuo’s medical philosophy, ethics, and practices, promote China’s outstanding traditional culture, and adhere to its founding principles. Through relentless efforts, the association aims to elevate academic research on Hua Tuo and Three Kingdoms culture, enrich Xuchang’s cultural initiatives and industries, and contribute to the preservation and development of national heritage.
