One summer day in 2005, Yuanhua people watched CCTV's "Oriental Time" program, which featured an interview with Professor Niu Manjiang, a world-renowned biologist. Professor Niu Manjiang has devoted his life to the research of cutting-edge biological technology, making outstanding contributions to the development of life sciences. He has been received by Chinese leaders Zhou Enlai, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, and Hu Jintao on multiple occasions.
In the interview, Professor Niu Manjiang mentioned that he possesses two high-end projects in the world of biological science—the planting and deep processing technology of soybean protein corn and human albumin corn. Among them, soybean protein corn has already obtained a US patent. This groundbreaking research achievement has been evaluated by authoritative departments to be worth 3 billion RMB. A powerful foreign conglomerate wanted to buy out all the project results at once. Niu Manjiang solemnly stated: "China has 1.3 billion people, most of whom are farmers, and they are still not wealthy. Niu Manjiang was born in 1912 in a small village in Boye County, Hebei Province. He studied diligently from a young age, had a remarkable memory, and excelled in his studies at Peking University. In 1944, he went to study in the United States; in 1947, he obtained his doctorate; and in 1962, he became a tenured professor in the Department of Biology at Temple University in the United States.
Professor Niu Manjiang has nine major research achievements in his lifetime and enjoys high prestige in the world's scientific community. He has been received by heads of state or government leaders from more than 80 countries. In early October 2005, a Yuanhua Company representative rushed to Beijing to meet Professor Niu Manjiang. On October 11, 2005, Professor Niu Manjiang solemnly signed the authorization letter: "Having lived abroad for more than 60 years, my heart has always been with my motherland. To fulfill the earnest instructions of Premier Zhou Enlai and Vice Premier Deng Xiaoping, after careful consideration, I have decided to dedicate the major scientific research achievements I have painstakingly researched over the years to my motherland, to achieve the modernization of China's agriculture and fulfill my wish to dedicate my expertise to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. To this end, I solemnly decide to fully authorize this high-tech agricultural project—the planting, promotion, industrial production, and patent technology of special hybrid corn rich in soybean protein and human albumin—to Xuchang Yuanhua Biotechnology Co., Ltd., which is committed to "serving the nation through industry." Through the company's comprehensive operation guided by the scientific development concept, this technological achievement will set an example in enhancing China's agricultural market competitiveness and promoting agricultural industrialization."
According to the technical cooperation agreement signed by both parties, Yuanhua Company obtained the exclusive right to use Professor Niu's two technologies within China. The term of use is 20 years. This includes: (1) Establishing the Niu Manjiang-Yuanhua Biology and Life Science Research Center. (2) Annual breeding and deep processing of 5,000 tons of soybean protein corn project. (3) Human albumin corn extraction and human albumin production project.
At an advanced age, discerning eyes identify a treasure and bestow it as gold
When Professor Niu solemnly handed over 150 kilograms of soybean protein corn seeds, the fruits of his life's work, to Yuanhua Company, he said meaningfully, "What I'm giving you is gold!" The main tasks and significance of the establishment of the "Niu Manjiang-Yuanhua Biology and Life Science Research Center" are:
1. Through the research center's guidance on the breeding of high-quality soybean protein corn, 10,000 mu of soybean protein corn will be planted in 2006, forming an industrial scale of deep processing of soybean protein extraction nucleic acids, which can achieve annual breeding and deep processing of 5,000 tons of soybean protein corn. In 2007, a planting base of 1 million mu will be formed, with an output of about 400,000 tons, resulting in an annual increase of about 1 billion yuan for farmers, and driving the deep processing industry of related agricultural products. The annual breeding and deep processing of 5,000 tons of soybean protein corn project has a total investment of 90 million yuan. Sales revenue is 278.25 million yuan, annual profit and tax total is 84.5 million yuan, and total profit is 63.07 million yuan.
